Thanks for your post. I totally agree with your opinion that flexibility is one of the most irreplaceable advantage of online learning. I think your worries about the online course is reasonable. From my perspective, in an online course, teachers can check whether the students’ understand the learning materials by several ways. For instance, they can provide online office hour, have short quizzes, and so on. Like you mentioned, web camera is also an effective way to find out whether the students pay attention to the class or not. I think there are lots of ways to keep the students focus on the content in an online course.
